Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Thank you. I used a level 1 pet in 3rd spot and swapped it in/out after Haunt and before Ikky. 319 XP with hat - enough to go from level 1 to Level 4 which helps when Squirt is up (pets need to be 4 or 5 to benefit from Squirt Day?)

Arcuballis

wrote on 2021-03-12 14:36:39

If you use this strategy you can level any pet with Squirt, even level 1. :) They don't take any hits. https://www.wow-petguide.com/Strategy/730/Deebs,_Tyri_and_Puzzle

You're welcome! The Legion fights are great for levelling from 45-50, I avoided having to take a whole bunch of alts through BfA that way.

Just tried this strat with a leveling pet (lvl 1 Felbat pup)...after you use haunt, you get a free swap to bring in leveling pet, then immediately switch to Ikky, it wasn't much exp, but I went from level 1 to level 4 just using the hat...good for adding a bit of health to your lowbies :)

Mergas wrote on 2017-08-04 00:15:22

Just tried your leveling version. Worked perfectly, 1 to 4 in one go. This is a much faster fight than the snail/zandalari version I had been using, so even without leveling a pet I think I prefer this strategy.

Zandalari Ankle or Kneebiter can be used instead of ikky for those that dont have them. black claw, then hunting hunting party are exactly the same skills.

Shimmershell Snail 2,2,1
Zandalari Anklerender 2,1,2
Shell Shield, Dive, Absorb till shell shield at 1 round left. Dive on cd.
Swap to Zandalari when he goes to egg stage. Black claw , Flock, Leap and done.
I have used this strat for months never a problem.
Mainly because at the time I didn't have the suggested ones listed.
Mentioning this one for others that might be where I was.
Never tried a lvl pet but Eekwibbles strat for that sounds good.
Good Luck. Have Fun and Thanks Again to everyone for this sight and all the help. :-)

Just thought I'd add a little something here for levelers. Heliosus' first attack is Conflagrate. It deals 487 base dmg - more against mechs, less against critters - so any pet with >1.5*487hp [326hp for critters, 732hp for mechs] (in case it crits) can survive the 1st hit. Also, any magic pet can survive 1 hit from anything, even @lvl1, and there's no AoE in this fight. So fill your boots getting a leveler in that 1st slot.

Tyrsa wrote on 2017-02-10 10:56:41

While this is a good idea, I tried this and got 0 xp.

Edit: Ok, for some reason there was no feedback the first time I ran this. I have run it again and got ~1k xp for a level 17 pet in the first slot.

Sloober wrote on 2017-02-10 13:03:19

Same here, it doesn't say you get xp, but i just got the cheevo for raising 75 pets to level 10 after this fight, so it must give some xp, just not much i think..

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-03-29 09:11:31

There's definitely a bug there somewhere. I just did it again today and got zero xp. Kind of sucks since it's Sign of the Critter week. Oh well, Squirt's in EU garrisons today, so, never mind. =D

Nice option to use with falcosaur quests

Laceyruby wrote on 2017-04-20 20:00:46

I put a lvl 15 pet in right after black claw. Then back to Ikky and flock..

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-07-26 22:23:02

I put a fresh lvl1 magic pet in the 1st slot today to see what happened. As per usual, there was no prompt to say any xp had been earned but it jumped from lvl1 with 0 xp to lvl4 with 39/195 (with just the Saf Hat). That's a seriously pathetic amount of xp. I'm positive it was far higher earlier in the expac. It's probably not worth messing about with this fight at all unless the reward is a nice Flawless stone like it was today.

Jóckin wrote on 2017-07-25 16:08:51

Anonymous wrote on 2017-07-24 20:42:36

I was able to do this using the Brilliant Spore (2,2,1) with Ikky, Similar strat posted for Vinu. I personally did Creeping Fungus, Spore Mushrooms, Swap to Ikky, Black Claw, Flock, ???, Profit.

Feraah wrote on 2017-05-08 22:08:31

I always use 2-3 Water striders, using pump, and water jet. Works like a charm. (Eternal Strider, Mirror Strider, and Aqua Strider, or multiples of 1, either way, always works for me! They're also super easy to get and easy to get multiples of.)

1st pet- pump, pump, water jet, water jet, dies
2nd pet, water jet, water jet, sometimes a 3rd water jet
he transforms to egg
pump, pump,, water jet, water jet, water jet.

The first pump as the egg doesnt count as one of his 4 as an egg, so it kills him. If the water jets or pump crits, it will only take 2 water jets at the end.

I am trying to do the hatchling fights and I cant find any solid strats are you working on anything ???

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-01-24 03:30:10

Hey Demilo! The Hatchling quests are very hard to incorporate into this page and I have not figured out a good way, yet. I do not want to duplicate all the Legion World Quests 4 times, that doesn't make much sense. Not sure how to do it.

Remte

wrote on 2017-01-24 03:33:01

@OP Try your falco + Syd or Crane Chick + a strider. The falco can be swapped immediately. Ensure that you have Pump and rainy weather ready when the phoenix hides inside its egg.

Edit: If a falcosaur presented doesn't matter (I don't think it does, many abilities are shared anyway), a single alt page just for it should suffice ^^

Aranesh

wrote on 2017-01-24 03:38:11

Not exactly because every falcosaur asks for a different family of pets accompanying it on the world quests (1 falcosaur + Undeads, 1 falcosuar + X etc.). That would mean 4x each strategy, where possible.

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-01-24 09:45:43

Even if you were to stick to the fights that aren't part of the achievement meta, it would be 84 strategies. You're better off using Wowhead for falco Rumble strats. There are a few appearing (I've written 6 of them - 3 each for Sharptalon (Only Pets Can Prevent Forest Fires, Fight Night: Rats, and All Pets Go to Heaven) and Snowfeather (Fight Night: Stitches Jr. Jr., Fight Night: Heliosus, and Threads of Fate)), they're fairly recent, though, so you'll have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find them.

Ravynsur wrote on 2017-01-24 10:52:00

Maybe just put them as an * strat like your alt strats are numbered on the side? Just a thought.

Remte

wrote on 2017-01-24 11:48:10

I was talking about Team Up (early quest) only, sorry for the confusion.
Though I'm not sure if it's needed in that team anymore, maybe all it's about the summoning! :-)

On Rumble… Maybe marking any already existing suitable WQ/FF page? Such as Sunwayver with Hyjal Wisp for the Sharptalon one. ^^

Eekwibble wrote on 2017-02-10 09:21:58

You only ever needed to have your Falco summoned out for Team Up quests, there was some early confusion because of the "...must be present and cannot die in battle..." caveat that Blizz added unnecessarily. But, no, they don't need to be in the fight, hence the Rumble quests are the only ones that still need covering.

Herune wrote on 2017-01-29 09:31:53

I leveled up Ikky from level 1-20. Got tired of leveling it, so I just tried to battle with the same strat but with Ikky at level 20. I was able to easily win the fight. If Helios had crit Ikky even once, then it would have been game over. My Ikky was P/S if that helps. I also didnt get any experience for Ikky for doing the fight. bummer on that but still funny that I could still do it

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-28 21:53:40

Did it with the Nether Faerie Dragon, 1 pet win

Saiko wrote on 2017-01-28 14:06:40

As I still haven't lvl'd Ikky up, I used an Azure Crane Chick as my 2nd pet. This actually worked really well!! Flock finishes off the bird form of Heli and hits the egg form so it get the double damg buff. However, with surge you not only get the double damg from the Flock buff but the 50% extra damg since it's an aquatic spell to an elemental! One surge finished the fight. ^_^

Nyla wrote on 2017-01-28 19:34:09

Nice variation. I don't have Ikky lvl'd either, and I ran this strat with my azure crane chick at lvl 21.

Jonga wrote on 2016-10-25 05:29:30

When Heliosus is in egg form he is considered stunned, therefore Kun-Lai Runt's Takedown ability kills him in 2 hits.

lyta wrote on 2016-11-05 15:42:37

Anonymous wrote on 2017-01-24 14:46:39

Let Direbeak and Bonkers get it to the egg, and, like you said, Kun-Lai Runt finishes it with Takedown. Awesome.

Myzvale wrote on 2016-10-31 20:01:54

A 1/1/2 Yu'la can solo this as well. Start off with Emerald Presence, 2nd turn use Life Exchange for big dmg, then finish the bird with Breath. When the egg pops, use Breath. Use Life Exchange as soon as it is off CD then finish with Breath.
