i love how the Feline Familiar solos this fight .. however if i try and put a level pet in the pet gets rooted and ends up dead ... so yes, i agree that mudslide really has altered the strat... i'd say best to just let your feline get r done :-)

Pureheart wrote on 2018-09-18 15:11:24

The strat is excellent. Just needs one tweaking. Change steps 2 and 3 around. Should be Stoneskin (at 1), pounce, pounce, (3rd pounce if needed), devour (once target's health is at 325), repeat.

SyrenS wrote on 2018-09-26 11:22:58

Worked fabulously switching the attacks. Tried the posted strategy and my Feline Familiar died x3. Tried it the way you suggested and worked like a charm! Ty for this suggestion! It is greatly appreciated!

wrote on 2019-11-19 03:22:32

Nice advice! Thanks! The devour can be used with higher health, though. I waited to use at 325 and I killed the first enemy pet.

Duchess wrote on 2019-03-05 04:40:07

This strat actually does still work if you swap in your 10+ lvl pets when Stringer comes in. I used 10+ lvl pets but i think you can get away with 5+ lvl.
Stoneskin, Pouncex2, Devour kills Beets - Pounce, Stoneskin, Pounce, Devour kills Rawly - Devour cont. swap in lvl pet 1, swap in lvl pet 2, swap in Faline Familiar, Stoneskin, Pounce x2

Dende

wrote on 2019-07-05 17:27:18

This strat here, this works perfect :) I had two level 10 pets, but I think you can put in two level 5 pets too. this strat works really good. Thanks a lot!

Kathleene

wrote on 2019-09-13 16:29:59

Yep. Duchess' strategy worked a treat. I always try to use leveling pets whenever possible; even if XP is low. Thanks going out to Duchess & to Xu-Fu. (edited)

Telboy

Dont work anymore as mudslide roots

Ngara wrote on 2019-08-24 16:22:02

Use critters! They can't be rooted.

Warathul#2434

wrote on 2019-08-05 17:57:40

tdScript for Feline only (no leveling pet swaps as they aren't worth it anymore):

use(Stoneskin) [ self(#1).active & self.aura(Stoneskin).duration < 2 ]
use(Devour) [ enemy.hp < 330]
use(Pounce)
change(#2) [ self(#1).dead ]

thebl4ckd0g wrote on 2019-03-21 10:45:54

you can still do this strat. but with 2 Critters and the should have a bit more health, so they can't be level 1. Maybe Lvl 5-10 minimum, or at least with enough attack power to get 1 hit on the last guy to kill him, since I always lose my Feline Familiar before that (and the one I have is Rare Power with 1221 health).

Flamer#2298

wrote on 2018-12-26 15:03:09

Tried this with 2 leveling pets from the Critter Family and it worked. Critters cant be stuned, rooted or be put to sleep :-)

I also tried this Combo

Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling (1/2/2)
Any Critter L1+
Feline Familiar (2/1/1)

Decoy (reduce the damage on the level pet)
Swap to level pet
Swap to Feline
Stoneskin (renew at 1 turn left)
Pounce until target < 600 Health
Devour
Repeat Feline's attacks. If Feline dies the swap to Dragonling, to finish the fight.

Worked like a Charm.

thebl4ckd0g wrote on 2019-01-22 16:15:21

2 critters definitely the best now after 8.1

Nellq

wrote on 2019-01-22 00:56:21

I don't bother with the leveling pets, but I seem to fairly reliably still one-pet it with Feline Familiar.

PureArmour#1184

wrote on 2019-01-01 14:11:41

not sure what happened here i think they changed the abilities some so that you cannot put in a level pet.... i have tried a dozen times and the level pet gets rooted... maybe is just a glitch or something... but this used to work flawless... this was my favorite strat... i hope it is just glitched

Lazey

wrote on 2019-01-01 14:44:54

See the creator comment, Blizzard replaced Sandstorm with Mudslide... the damage reduction of Sandstorm was high enough to make Beets' Stampede a complete waste and the ideal moment to swap level pets. Looking at other 8.1 pet battle changes (corrected icons etc.) this was something on their list since Beta.

PureArmour#1184

wrote on 2019-01-01 21:45:02

Creator comment wasn't there when i made the comment, but thanks for the alert that it was put there... i will miss this strat, and the xp that used to come with it... :-( to bliz for the change

Kay

160 xp (with hat). What are they thinking?

Maui-turtle wrote on 2018-12-12 22:02:27

Not sure and I didn't read anywhere about the drop in XP.......:(

PureArmour#1184

wrote on 2019-01-01 21:40:06

the nurfed the xp because of being able to repeat the battles now ... and bliz didn't want to give us a way to power level our pets.

Swyftlyght

wrote on 2018-12-12 15:29:56

This will not work any more, sadly. They changed Beets third ability to Mudslide.
Figuring out something else, but wanted to get this up. <Edit> Others' posts to this effect didn't show until I put in this comment.

pileofcrapola

I've added my Anubisath Idol to use Sandstorm. It will go off after the Mudslide on the first round due to the pet speed. This will stop the pet swap restriction from the Mudslide. Swap to level pet, then swap to Feline Familiar. If needed, swap back to Anubisath for another Sandstorm then back to Feline.

While this will work, I don't think its worth the hassle for the XP you'll put on the level pet.

Corgi

wrote on 2018-12-12 14:17:31

For what it's worth, here's what I experienced trying a all-Beast levelling team:
Stoneskin [Mudslide]
Pounce [Stampede]
Pounce [Stampede]
Devour [Stampede]
[Quick Attack]
Devour [Beets dead]

Pounce [Burrow]
Stoneskin [Burrow]
Pounce [Rip]
Devour [Rawly dead]

Devour [Shell Shield]
<i>Mudslide fades</i>
Stoneskin [Barbed Stinger]

L21 Black Kingsnake Hiss [Barbed Stinger]

L17 Coda [Pinch]
[Barbed Stinger]
Uncanny Luck

L25 Feline Familiar [Pinch]
Stoneskin [Shell Shield]
Pounce [Barbed Stinger]
Devour [Stinger dead]

...yeah, you're right. The pet XP totally sucked, why did they do that!?

Hissyfitizzy wrote on 2018-12-12 13:06:53

Sadly, they changed feline familiar and this strategy no longer works :(

Remte

wrote on 2018-12-12 14:08:33

Familiar is okay, but perhaps you mean the enemy as commented below?

Lunanescence wrote on 2018-11-12 10:57:18

This is an excellent strat. I think that the feline familiar is a very underrated pet. I use it as my main capture in the wild pet. Use her for everything. =D

Corgi

wrote on 2018-12-12 14:06:16

Me too! [high four] Makes a great team with Sentinel's Companion and a Corgi of some sort.

rae wrote on 2018-12-12 10:46:30

as of 8.1 it doesn't award enough xp to be worth using leveling pets and the first pet casts mudslide instead of sandstorm

Nezrite

wrote on 2018-12-12 11:06:18

I ended up using Iron Starlette (standard attack) and Darkmoon Tonk, with Chrominius as a third, unneeded pet.

Izzy wrote on 2018-12-12 11:46:01

Sadly true, strat doesn't work any longer and XP is brutally reduced :(

pileofcrapola wrote on 2018-12-12 12:38:04

The strat works as far as the pet is concerned. The Mudslide just means you can't swap effectively. The cat will still clear the entire enemy team.
