Mod Notes (2022-01-05):
- Link to the changelog - Other survivability notes: • All breeds of Zandalari Anklerender can withstand as much as Flamethrower's casting crit, and only P/B will handle an additional crit of a DoT. However, Cosmic Smash's crit on P/P one will make Dragonkin racial happen earlier, ruining the fight. • Ikky can be crit by at most the Cosmic Smash's backline damage. Phase Punch or Tail Sweep is always too much, but such is the trade for outspeeding Cosmos. • Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling can be crit at most by Cosmic Smash and the second stage of Arcane Blast, or Starfall and the third stage of Arcane Blast. |

Strategy by Hajaj: Link
Tested on 9.0.2 and it worked the first time. One Wowhead comment indicates that it may not be 100% guaranteed. It's possible other breeds (P/B) may work for Infected Squirrel, but I've only tested with H/P. Mod Note (2021-12-29): P/B Infected Squirrel is very vulnerable to crits, but given no obstacles will perform the same. For consistency with the source, the requirement stays. More notes applied below. |

RNG logs: Link It might be surprising, but you can use many, many more pets as the third one – Constellatius has no more than 555 HP (547 if the Glimmerfly is P/B). Tried to list them all and it's quite a bit, I put Chrominius because of the ubiquity :) |

This strategy was based on Cataerei's strat for this fight (also listed in the alternatives here). I could not get it to work as written, so this is the strategy I used. It is very similar to Cataerei's strat, and I would not have defeated this w/o having his/hers as a baseline. The original doesn't *quite* work post 9.0, however, so give this one a shot. It's been tested by several other people, as well, so I hope it's helpful.
You can use any Zandalari Raptor with Black Claw and Hunting Party, but it MUST be a P/P breed. Your 3rd pet can be any pet with Decoy, but use the one with the most Health for best result. I could NOT get the Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling to work in this strategy, so I recommend using a higher health Decoy pet if you have one. |

Mod Note: There have been several entries, such as this one, which have used Emerald Dream to avoid the forced swap consecutively. Unfortunately, in Shadowlands the Starfall's cooldown has been reduced from 5 to 4, resulting in shortening the Cosmos' rotation and thus increasing the frequency of Phase Punch. This solution, while not perfect, preserves the choice of pets and the first few steps showcasing the initial technique.

I was having absolutely no luck with every other strategy available, so came up with this.
Be forewarned: this is extremely RNG based AND extremely long. Shimmerbough solos (or near solos) Comet, then the 2 EPWs are rotated by Cosmos, healing constantly and getting in an occasional hit, with Apocalypse doing all the work for Constallatius. Shimmer will rotate between keeping Comet stunned and blinded and dealing damage while he's blinded. Once we get into the EPW rotation, you need to be both patient and greedy: He heals with starfall which would normally be negligible, but we're attacking so infrequently that it is significant. Once Cosmos dies (FINALLY!), you're home free. Just stay healed and wait for Apocalypse to kill Constellatius. |

Unfortunately, these days it seems to break from the get go due to the Shattered Defenses changes. You can't be crit at all and you have to crit yourself.
But there's something else I'd like to refer to.
A few other strategies refer to the same Emerald Dream trick initiated by this very entry which I want to give due credit to.
However, as people all around have pointed out elsewhere, it doesn't work after the first loop as you're unable to enter nap before being swapped.
So it seems something had changed, and I started to dig around.
Looking at 2016 Hazel's video, she uses ED just after Starfall, as it would always be for the first round of Cosmos, and EPW was slower even back then.
Oh. I remember now.
Starfall used to have 5 rounds of cooldown instead of the current 4, changed in the build 9.0.2.36165.
Why should it matter?
Even back then, Phase Punch wouldn't be cast before Starfall, despite coming together off cooldown before SL. The abilities (of all of them) follow a priority list any TD Script writer is now free to groan at.
So instead of: Starfall → Phase Punch → Arcane Blast x3,
it used to be:Starfall → Phase Punch → Arcane Blast x4,
meaning that Emerald Dream always lined up with Starfall, sporting the same 5 round CD.
As if SL weather changes haven't been controversial enough… :-)
So it is broken. Please look for something else. But I will not remove it. It's a piece of history, necessary to understand other tips – some of which aired outside Xu-Fu's Pet Guides. (edited)

Opened with my P/P Anklerender. Primal Cry, Black Claw, Hunting Party. It dies when Comet has a sliver of health left. Emerald Proto Whelp comes in, outspeeds thanks to Primal Cry, and kills with Breath. Then just spam your healing abilities with the occasional Breath as described here until the Apocalypse comes and you win. My third pet didn't need to battle, I just picked Widget the Departed because he resists Starfall.

Credit goes to rhinoloupe:
You can defeat Algalon with tradeable pets, which you can buy on the AH or borrow from a friend. A lot of people use tactics that involve catching a specific breed, but this isn't necessary!
The pets
Macabre Marionette 1-2-1
Fiendish Imp 1-1-1 (I used P/S build, but it shouldn't matter)
Magical Crawdad 1-1-2
Comet: Marionnete will take out the dragon solo. Siphon Life, Dead Man's Party, Macabre Maraca x2. Both these pets should die at the same time. If he crits you, you'll die before getting off the second Maraca, so forfeit and restart.
Cosmos: Switch in your Imp. Rush, Immolation. At this point, the bunny will force your Crawdad into battle. Imp will heal passively every round while he's not active. Wish, Renewing Mists, Snap. Your wish should be on cooldown for 3 more rounds, and you should have over ~1100 health remaining. Switch to Imp, rinse and repeat until bunny is dead: Rush, Immolation, Wish, Renewing Mists, Snap, switch.
Constellatius: Both your pets should be healthy, and you just have to outlast 15 rounds until Apocalypse lands. If Imp is active, switch to Crawdad. Wish, Renewing Mists, and Claw or Pass until Apocalypse squishes your Crab and the Imp claims victory.
Congratulations on your new starbunny!

I was hestitant to use EPW, but I can see that it still wouldn't go without the help of opponent's Moonlight, so no need to complain about it! :)
I also thought that you can't Apocalypse Constellatius – but indeed you can.
Congratulations to Quintessence. :)
Now I'd need to maintain a second account to test other stuff… I can't test strats for free anymore! :P

"Use Ancient Blessing and Emerald Dream on cooldown,"
So I used ancient blessing first, but this will actually cause you to get into a stalemate of healing without being able to breath since the bunny will swap you on your breath turn. If you use emerald dream first, then as the warning says you will avoid the situation where the swapping punch will screw you.

"Emerald Dream, Ancient Blessing, and constantly use these two healing abilities whenever they're off cooldown while filling in the gaps with Breath until Cosmos dies."
I only got to do it once, but I was watching the health and the expected damage, and as long as this rotation was followed, I didn't think that even a crit (except maybe at one point, where the EPW was lowest starting ED) could put the EPW in danger.

I suspect that people who report problems may not have taken the EPW's instructions seriously enough. It is awfully tempting to go for "just one Breath" when one of your heals is available. Don't!
The instructions for the EPW are: Emerald Dream whenever available, then Ancient Blessing if available, and Breath only when neither of the others are available. Doing exactly that (starting with Emerald Dream on my first round) got me through the Cosmos battle very nicely.
After that, the Bear-Cub could literally sleep through the rest of the battle. (I also used a H/P bear.)
